More Than a Preschool.
A Community You Help Build.
What is a Co-op?
Lafayette Nursery School is a parent participation preschool — often called a co-op. Unlike traditional preschools, cooperative schools invite parents to take an active role in their child's early education, giving families a deeper understanding of their child's development and a place in a genuinely engaged community.
You're Not Just a Parent Here. You're a Partner.
At LNS, the school becomes as much yours as it is your child's. Families contribute their time by assisting in the classroom, helping maintain the school, and participating in parent education opportunities — bringing their ideas and energy to shape the experience for every family.
What Participation Looks Like
Parent participation is at the heart of the LNS experience. Families work alongside our experienced teachers to support the classroom, care for the school, and build the community that defines us. This includes assisting in the classroom 2–4 times per month, participating in housekeeping and maintenance days, holding a family job or serving on the executive board, and attending parent education sessions.
A Family Experience
Co-op membership isn't just for your child. Through shared responsibilities and time spent together, parents gain real insight into early childhood development while forming lasting friendships with other families.
